Individual therapy and group therapy with children and young people
Parents/carers seek therapy for children and young people when they are worried about their behaviour/mood or if there has been a catastrophic/traumatic event in the family or in their community.
I use creative methodologies to engage young people in the therapeutic process and integrate EMDR within my practice.
EMDR is recognised by the World Health Organisation (2013) as an effective therapy for children and adolescents who have experienced traumatic events. It also has the highest recommendation for Children and Adolescents with PTSD from the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS, 2018).
I incorporate creative methodologies, EMDR, FT, and my knowledge and experience from working as a child and adolescent mental health practitioner to address general anxiety, school refusal, low self-esteem, grief, poor sleep, physical and sexual abuse, social and emotional behavioural difficulties, developmental trauma and concerns relating to neurodiverse conditions for example, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD).
